Healthcare.gov Application Vs. Private Application: Which is Faster? [Video]
Luckily for the ACA, time is relative.
In a handy video comparison, John Green of VlogBrothers pits Healthcare.gov and an unnamed private insurance application against each other in a race to determine if the government’s solution is really as slow as critics say.
The verdict will disappoint some critics who have been quick to point out that the government healthcare site has been glitchy, slow, and sometimes excruciatingly frustrating with its server errors. While Healthcare.gov might take more of a time investment than downloading new TV episodes, it still came in at more than twice as fast as the private insurance application.
The actual process itself was also markedly simpler and only required the user to remember such difficult facts as who their family members are and whether or not they smoke. The private insurance app, on the other hand, had pages of information to seek out and record.
One person is hardly a proper scientific sample, but more those who are quick to judge the new site may want to do their own comparisons before whining. Also, maybe order some food while you’re applying. It seems to have some kind of effect.

- Watch VlogBrothers tell 53 terrible jokes in less than four minutes
- Or watch them explain why maps are amazing
