Henry Cavill’s Mustache Invites You to Watch Its “Glorious Debut” in the Mission Impossible: Fallout Trailer
In the new Mission Impossible: Fallout trailer, we finally get to see Henry Cavill’s (previously) digitally removed mustache in all its glory. Cavill’s mustache became the source of endless meme-ing during reshoots for Justice League, when the world discovered that he was contractually obligated not to shave it, and it would have to be digitally removed in post-production.
And Mission Impossible: Fallout was the reason. Due to the extensive reshoots, shooting for Justice League lasted far longer than expected, and Cavill found himself unexpectedly having to shoot both movies at once. However, he’d grown a mustache for his Mission Impossible role—a mustache that would definitely look out-of-place on Superman—and Paramount refused to let him shave it just because Justice League ran past its schedule.
While plenty of scenes looked totally fine with the CGI removal, some looked … shall we say, less successful. And so the internet went to town.

Cavill, for his part, has totally seemed to enjoy his mustache’s infamy, tagging his Instagram photos #seastache, #FrostStache, and #KingStache, as well as posting a letter from his mustache to his followers. “Dear Reader,” the post reads, “Due to the lateness of the hour Henry is now actually in bed, it is a school night after all. Being his moustache however, I require no sleep (or food). So I have taken it upon myself to address you, my lovers and my haters to announce this exciting event! The first trailer is here, my glorious debut! Bathe in my bristly glow! Marvel at my contours and yes, be allured you who are facially able, for our time has come. From the pages of history we shall charge forth and rule the world once more and I shall be your king!”
Like, seriously. He’s all about the mustache.
Mission Impossible: Fallout arrives in theaters on July 27, 2018.
