By Order of the ‘Peaky Blinders’—Here’s Where to Watch Season 6
The Shelbys, their red rights hands and their dusty black coats are back for the sixth season of beloved period crime drama Peaky Blinders—the final one of the show who will lead right into a movie set to wrap up the story of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and the rest of his family in 20th century Birmingham. How will the conflict between Tommy and politician Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin) play out? Will the Shelbys come out on top in the end? Only these six new episodes will tell.
The new Peaky Blinders season premiered on Sunday, February 27th on BBC One in the United Kingdom—and it will continue to air every week throughout March until the second Sunday of April. And as it airs primarily in the UK it’s definitely easier to watch if you’re in the UK yourself, since you have two options to choose from. One is the television (does catching a show on TV feel old-fashioned in the age of streaming? Who knows), and the other is the BBC iPlayer. You can register for free to watch all BBC shows, Peaky Blinders included—but it’s only available within the geographical borders of the United Kingdom.
On this side of the pond, though, the rights to Peaky Blinders belong exclusively to Netflix and not to BBC America, which means that it’ll be Netflix airing this final season. It’s less clear, however, when that will be—it definitely won’t be at the same time as the episodes come out in the UK if the way the previous seasons were aired is anything to go by.
Season two, three, and four of Peaky Blinders were all released on Netflix US around a month after the show’s BBC One premiere. Season 5 had an even more delayed timeframe, since it premiered in August 2019 in the United Kingdom but arrived in the United States in April 2020. There’s no reason to believe things will be different for season six—so no blade-concealing flat caps in sight until at least mid-April.
After having waited four years to see where things are headed for the Shelbys (and especially their charismatic and brooding leader) knowing that there are new episodes out there, just barely out of reach, sure leaves a sour taste in one’s mouth. But maybe the extra month will make the final season even better—even though we can already be sure it will be something worth seeing. It is the Peaky Blinders, after all.
