VHS Fail: High School History Class Accidentally Shown Porn
History students at Cliff High School got an eyeful when their substitute teacher unwittingly showed them a video of graphic pornography.
The graphic video, described by one student as “naked ladies doing things,” had supposedly been taped over by a History Channel program on the 1919 Treaty of Versailles. But as is apt to happen with analog technology, the beginning of the tape still contained porn.
Angry parents demanded to view the tape themselves, you know, just to make sure. What they saw was consistent with the student’s description–a tawdry porn depicting “two nude women, one of whom was masturbating” that then dissipated into a military documentary.
The history classes’ regular teacher claimed to have received the tape “from a friend,” and had no idea that the video contained pornography. Though that “friend” wasn’t interviewed, something tells me that he may also have received the tape from another “friend.”
Parents are demanding that the school district’s superintendent Dick Pool (yes, that’s his real name) take action, though Pool has remained mum on whether or not the history teacher will be fired.
The El Paso Times breathlessly narrates:
Pool said that after he heard about the incident, he met with parents and the principal in the home economics lab at Cliff High School. When he put the tape in the VCR, the porn clip did not appear. He tried again, rewinding the tape to the beginning, and again, no porn. So he took the tape to the room where the students had viewed it and put it in that VCR and rewound the tape to the beginning — and there was the porn.
In the era of digital, don’t stories like this make you miss old school analog tech?
