Uh… William Shatner Said a Star Trek Musical Could Happen

So that's a thing.

Star Trek‘s 50th anniversary is coming up, and with it, some pretty fantastical plans. The only problem is that it seems like nobody can figure out what those plans are. In an interview with The Guardian, William Shatner said that more than a few ideas have been tossed around–including, apparently, a musical.

I’ve been actively trying to do a 50th anniversary show … We had a big company say: ‘What about a musical or a music variety show?’ That got some traction – but nothing’s come of it yet.

If anybody should know how… uh, pernicious a misguided musical career can be, it’s Shatner, right? Either way, apparently that idea got shelved, too. But he does note it was the only one that had any shot of making it so far, which kind of begs the question: if this is what got traction… what didn’t?
