You know that Internet thing? That thing that you always say you can live without, but when there’s a storm out and the Internet goes down you don’t really know what to do with yourself? You know how you always immediately run to the modem and unplug and plug it back in the second the Internet dies? Did you know those things came into existence because people needed to connect teletype machines over an ordinary phone line, and have a history dating back to 1943?
