Rejoice, Humans! The How to Train Your Dragon 3 Trailer Has Arrived With Beardy Goodness
Along with Kung Fu Panda, the How to Train Your Dragon movie series is among Dreamworks’s best. Not only are the films beautifully made, but the characters are fun and manage to create touching narratives about self-worth and empathy. Now, we have been gifted the new trailer for the next and final part of the HTTYD trilogy.
According to Dreamworks:
Now chief and ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, Hiccup has created a gloriously chaotic dragon utopia. When the sudden appearance of female Light Fury coincides with the darkest threat their village has ever faced, Hiccup and Toothless must leave the only home they’ve known and journey to a hidden world thought only to exist in myth. As their true destines are revealed, dragon and rider will fight together—to the very ends of the Earth—to protect everything they’ve grown to treasure.
From what we can see from the trailer, the village of Berk has been thriving as a Dragon/Viking co-habitation paradise, and you know what tranquility means? FIRE NATION ATTACK! Amadeus actor F. Murray Abraham will play the dragon hunter Grimmel, who has killed every Night Fury dragon besides Toothless, which, of course, leads our human protagonist Hiccup to find a way to save not only his best friend, but the world they have created together.
Of course, this is the perfect time for Toothless to fall in love when he meets a Light Fury, a female white dragon version of Toothless ,with pink flame powers that grant her the ability to disappear into thin air when startled iconic feminist queen already.
I’m excited to see a female Light Fury in action, and it looks like America Ferrera’s character, Astrid, will be an equal part of the adventure with Hiccup. Of course, since this is the last installment in the trilogy, that means something sad is probably going to happen. From the trailer, we can see there’s a dragon paradise, where a bunch of other dragons are chilling and not worrying about being hunted.
If saving the dragons of Berk means everything having to split up … I’m not emotionally prepared. The “there were dragons when I was a boy” line is foreboding.
The movie will be arriving in theaters on March 1st, 2019. Are you ready to enter dragon paradise and see Hiccup’s new Chris Evans style beard?
