Sometimes making a classic more modern is a great move. And as someone who has yet to watch the Hellraiser sequels, I’m not quick to dismiss this upcoming movie. From what I’ve heard about the sequels…it’s probably a good idea to reintroduce folks to this franchise. Plus, having trans woman actress Jaime Clayton play Pinhead in the Hulu Hellraiser reboot is *chef’s kiss.*

Now, it’s time to get down to the nitty-gritty. What do we know about Hulu’s Hellraiser so far? When can we expect it? Who is playing Pinhead this time around? Keep on scrolling to find out everything that’s been revealed so far.

Hulu Hellraiser Release Date and Plot

Hellraiser (1987) hones in on a very one-sided relationship and how Julia (Claire Higgins) literally does anything for Frank (Sean Chapman). It’s very sexually charged, very queer, and somewhat beautifully repulsive. Meanwhile, it seems Hellraiser (2022) focuses on sibling drama essentially. According to Wikipedia this is the premise:

“A young woman faces the sadistic, supernatural forces behind an enigmatic puzzlebox responsible for her brother’s disappearance.”

– Wikipedia

That’s all that’s been revealed regarding the premise. Which, to me, is enough to keep us interested until a full blown trailer is released. And the change up regarding who opened the puzzle box is a good choice.
