Watch the Humans to Mars Summit Live Stream Right Here
This week Explore Mars, Inc. has been hosting the Humans to Mars Summit in Washington D.C. and you can watch the final day of the event live right here. Agencies from around the world have come together to discuss what it would take to put humans on Mars, and today they’ll be discussing how to inspire people around their goal, the policy changes that would be needed, and Buzz Aldrin will be talking about his new book on Mars at 2:00 PM EDT. The full schedule of the days events are below.
11:50 AM – 1:00 PM Policy Change
2:00 PM Buzz Aldrin will speak, most likely about his new book Mission to Mars.
2:50 – 4:00 Public Engagement: Challenges in Communicating the Value of Mars Panel
4:30-5:15 Rebecca Keiser, NASA’s Associate Deputy Administrator for Strategy and Policy
5:15: Closing Remarks by Artemis Westenber, President of Explore Mars, Inc.
I’m particularly interested in seeing the Buzz Aldrin segment, and to hear the closing remarks. Mars One seems to have all the ambition and marketing needed to get to Mars, but it seems like Explore Mars is working on the actual challenges of a manned mission to another planet.

- Mars One already has 78,000 applicants for a spot on its mission to Mars
- You can send your name, and maybe even a haiku to Mars
- Curiosity’s tracks look like a penis drawn on the Martian surface
