Hyperbole and a Half Announces Return, Entire Internet United in Rejoicing
Being that our readers (yeah, I’m talking about you) are generally people of high class and exceptional taste, we are delighted to bring you some genuinely awesome news this morning, news that will no doubt be appreciated by Internet connoisseurs like yourselves. Ready? OK — Allie Brosh has announced her triumphant return to the Internet, and fans can expect a new post on the much-and-rightly lauded blog/webcomic/genius Internet thing Hyperbole and a Half. Considering the post is Brosh’s first in more than a year during which she was working to deal with her depression, we have every anticipation that it will be a doozy.
Though there’s the promise of a full story from Brosh later today, last night saw her preface the upcoming real post with a”pre-post transition post” which she had the courtesy to write because if we just shifted directly from having no Hyperbole and a Half to having Hyperbole and a Half, the resulting sudden and drastic shift in gears would cause the Internet to fly from its tracks, gruesomely mangling everyone on board. The “pre-post” is, of course, exactly as sweet and awkward and wonderful as we’ve come to assume everything Brosh does is (even though that’s probably not the case, because, man, being that ‘on’ all the time would be tiresome, right?) and reads in part:
If, at any point over the last eighteen months, you’ve wondered what was happening to me and why it might be happening, my post tomorrow should explain everything.
I’ve been working on it for the better part of a year (partly because I wanted to get it exactly right, and partly because I was still experiencing it while attempting to explain it, which made things weird), and I’m relieved and excited and scared to finally be able to post it.
Until today’s post is up, we heartily recommend falling in love with Hyperbole and a Half all over again — or for the first time, if you haven’t before, and man, are you in for a treat if that’s the case — by getting back in touch with some of Brosh’s greatest hits, like her takes on adulthood, and how to cope with awkward situations, and moving with dogs.
And don’t worry, we’ll give a shout on Twitter and Facebook when the new post goes live later today, because here at Geekosystem, we hit the refresh button on a page a zillion times a day so you don’t have to.
Welcome back, Allie. We’re all really glad you’re feeling better.
UPDATE: As promised, here’s the new comic, and it’s great.
