Titanic II to Set Sail in 2018, Because Tempting Fate Just Seems Too Good to Resist

Get ready to never let go again.

Deciding that tempting fate sounded like a good way to blow millions upon millions of dollars, Australian billionaire Clive Palmer has been hard at work creating a replica of the one and only Leonardo DiCaprio-killer, the Titanic. Unofficially dubbed the 2tanic by Uproxx’s Josh Kurp (oh my god), it’s set to sail sometime in 2018.

What was that quote again? Those who do not learn history are doomed to be stranded on the freezing ocean floating on a giant door? Yeah, it’s something like that, I think.

So it’s an approximate replica, not an exact one. For starters, the ship will be welded together, not riveted like the old liners of yore. There will also be plenty of lifeboats available for everyone on board. Oh, and while this ship won’t have gross evil dude Billy Zane on board (boo), it likely also will not have a cocky, pompous captain, either (yay).

There you have it. What do you think? Will you be saving up some cash to ride on the 2tanic2Furious: Iceberg Drift?
