[UPDATED] Unknown Fan May Be Solution to Disappointing Blandness of Han Solo Actor Shortlist

Straight up: we were kind of disappointed with the shortlist of actors who are currently reading for the part of young Han Solo. As The Daily Dot’s Gavia Baker-Whitelaw so eloquently and so brilliantly put it, they’re a “damp Wonderbread sandwich.” Thankfully, they also went ahead and found a relative unknown who could very well be a contender for the Solo role… if, you know, Lucasfilm was okay with the idea of a relative unknown taking the part (why wouldn’t they be?).

Meet Anthony Ingruber. He might not look much like Harrison Ford, but he’s got it where it counts, kid. He’s made a lot of great impressions himself. He can make the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs do a killer Ford/Solo impression, and it seems like he’s got the right amount of cockiness and swagger that a lot of people fell in love with when A New Hope came out.

As I already said, he doesn’t look exactly like Ford, but then again neither do any of the other actors currently on the shortlist. Regardless, Ingruber really captured the character well, and there are moments when you can see echoes of a young Ford playing Solo.

Either way, I’ve got some serious doubts about any of the other actors on the shortlist donning the Corellian blood stripes (Dave Franco? Really?!). So I suppose it says something that there’s a pretty solid fan campaign to have this unknown take on the role as opposed to… well, literally anyone else on that list. You ask me, there’s only one real contender for Han Solo in my heart.

Lucasfilm could make it work. Search your feelings. You know it to be true.

[CORRETION]: Apparently, as everyone’s pointed out, Ingruber isn’t exactly unknown, as he has played a young Ford in Age of Adaline, which you can check out in the video below.
