Check Out The Trailer For The Coen Brothers Latest Film, Inside Llewyn Davis [Video]
New Coen Brothers? New Coen Brothers. All is well with the world.
Murky, earnest, and masculine-twee (is there even a word for that?) sums up my impression of Inside Llewyn Davis, the latest film from the Coen Brothers, set in the 1960s music scene in New York. Of course, you needn’t take my word for it — you can watch the latest trailer and decide for yourself.
Llewyn Davis (played by Oscar Isaac) seems like your standard 1960s guitarist-singer-songwriter with a Peter Pan complex and a lost orange cat. He has a hostile relationship with Carey Mulligan, and gets her pregnant, which is often what seems to happen when two people have a hostile relationship. John Goodman and Justin Timberlake also star as men with money in quiet shades of brown, grey, and beige, because this is a Coen Brothers movie, after all. If the duo’s trademark dark humor is present in the movie, though, it seems wholly lacking from the trailer.
Inside Llewyn Davis premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, taking home the Grand Prix Award, and is set to open in theaters this December.
