Tonight Is International Observe the Moon Night!
If you’re not into Halloween or Samhain, there’s still a science holiday for you this weekend! October 28 is International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN), described as “an annual worldwide public event that encourages observation, appreciation, and understanding of our Moon and its connection to NASA planetary science and exploration, as well as the cultural and personal connections we all have with Earth’s nearest neighbor.”
You can use this map to look for an InOMN event near you. And even if the weather’s cloudy where you are tonight, you can still enjoy some up-close views of the moon by scrolling through NASA’s library of images and videos, or using their interactive Moon Trek tool to explore.
Even the International Space Station is in on the fun:
