We have some casting announcements for Iron Man 3, and yes, everyone is going to be in this movie. Yup. All of the actors are getting roles in Iron Man 3, and all of the actors who were in the second movie are back for the third one. It is shaping up to be the most partytime awesome crowd in a Marvel movie, ever: because now, Jessica Chastain and Guy Pearce have signed on. Surely there will also be room for Ben Stiller so he can meet his six-movies-per-year quota.

Late last week, Disney and Marvel announced that Pearce (Lockout aka Scary Space Jail and the upcoming Prometheus) would be joining the cast, taking on the role of geneticist Dr. Aldrich Killian, who creates the Extremis virus along with fellow Futurepharm scientist Maya Hansen. He also, if you are familiar with the six-part Warren Ellis storyline (but if you’re not, it’s in spoiler text), commits suicide, so it’s hard to tell how big his role will be. The confirmation of this particular role points to Iron Man 3 following Ellis’ Extremis storyline, which makes it easy to speculate the unconfirmed role of …

Jessica Chastain (The Help, Tree of Life, Take Shelter, everything else), whose casting was announced this morning, but did not come with a name for her role. It was, however, described as a “starring” role, and considering Pearce’s role as Killan, we’re probably allowed to guess that Chastain will be playing Maya Hansen. MTV Splash Page also points out that Hansen has ties to the Mandarin, which their castmate Sir Ben Kingsley was rumored to be playing, until those rumors were denied.

Chastain apparently worked out a scheduling conflict to win the role, which could have gone to Diane Kruger (National Treasure), Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans), and Isla Fisher (Confessions of a Shopaholic and the best movie ever made, Hot Rod). The movie she has been working around is Katheryn Bigelow‘s untitled movie about Osama Bin Laden (which might be titled Zero Dark Thirty), but things have been smoothed out, and now Chastain can work on both roles.

Pearce and Chastain will join Kingsley as well as returning cast members Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, and Scarlett Johansson. Shane Black is directing, with former director Jon Favreau stepping into the producer role. Iron Man 3 is set to begin filming this summer and hit theaters May 3, 2013.
