How One of the Best ‘Indiana Jones’ Characters Returned for ‘Dial of Destiny’
After Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) made her dramatic return to the Indiana Jones series in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, viewers have been hopeful that she’ll reappear in the fifth and final installment of the franchise: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. After all—spoiler alert, if you haven’t seen Kingdom of the Crystal Skull yet—she’s not just the one that got away anymore, now she’s his wife.
So it would be a little surprising if Marion was somehow absent from the newest film. Here’s everything we know about Marion’s involvement in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Is Marion Ravenwood in Indiana Jones 5?
While this should be an easy question to answer, the studios and actors involved were being a little more coy than we’d like, but luckily the truth came out during the premiere for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in Los Angeles when Allen was in attendance!
Made even more clear was when, well, Marion showed up in Dial of Destiny. Allen’s return was an emotional one, with her scene being focused solely on her broken relationship with Indy and the two calling back to their iconic “Where doesn’t it hurt, Indy?” scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark. While brief and highlighting Indy and Marion’s grief over losing their son Mutt Williams (played by Shia LaBeouf in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), it was a beautiful note to add to their love story.
Still, that doesn’t mean Allen didn’t have fun teasing us about whether or not she was returning. While out for a meal with a group of celebrity friends, Allen was asked by a reporter about her involvement in the new Indiana Jones sequel. “I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you,” said Allen. “Seriously, I can’t say a word.”
Luckily, we got more Marion in our lives.
