Is There an End-Credits Scene in ‘The Batman’?
Director Matt Reeves and writer Peter Craig brought us a dark look into Gotham that feels like a story right out of the Batman comic books with The Batman, and it is an incredible journey into the mind of Bruce Wayne and his rogues’ gallery. With incredible performances from Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, and more, the movie is definitely one that fans will want to see!
The Batman is finally here, and fans want to know whether or not they should be waiting until after the credits for a look into the future of Bruce Wayne. And while there isn’t a “end-credits” scene at the end of the movie, there is a little hint into where Matt Reeves could be taking us next.
So is there an end-credits scene? The short answer? No. The complicated answer? Sort of.
**Spoilers for The Batman lie ahead.**
So, in theory, there’s a nod to the future of The Batman series at the end of the credits. It’s just not a full scene. We get to see another message from The Riddler that seems to imply that we haven’t seen the last of him. With his iconic question mark appearing from the website in which he talks to Bruce Wayne on, we see another message: Good Bye.
After, there’s a brief flash before the movie is done, and that brief flash is a URL to go to rataalda.com, where fans can click for a reward. That reward? Seemingly another cipher to solve—or at least that’s what mine was. Knowing the Riddler, everyone might get something different, but who knows!
What does it mean for a sequel?
Does the question mark mean that we can see a future movie with Paul Dano’s Riddler? Possibly! At the end of the movie, we see Edward Nashton (before changing his name to Edward Nigma) being upset in Arkham Asylum when a prisoner in the darkness offers him a new friendship. That prisoner is Barry Keoghan’s take on the Joker, and it sort of promises (at least to me) that the two will make a problem for Bruce Wayne at some point.
And with the Riddler’s question mark and “Good Bye” being at the end of the movie, it seems as if we might see him back in Bruce’s path sooner rather than later. And with these two teaming up together, Batman is in for a world of trouble.
So, no. There’s not really an end-credits scene, but the brief message at the end of the movie gives plenty of questions for fans to think about after taking in Matt Reeves’ epic foray into Gotham. For now: Good Bye.
