And if you’re anything like me, you’ll do everything you can to make sure your mother doesn’t know you’ve seen it.

Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill album was on repeat in my compact disc player for a good long time. I was also around 13-years-old when it was released so I did my best to avoid my mother learning I was listening to songs about oral sex. That being said, it was an amazing album with a great storytelling aspect so I guess it shouldn’t be all that surprising it’s getting turned into a musical.

“Tony and Pulitzer winner Tom Kitt, who worked on Green Day’s American Idiot musical, will provide orchestration and arrangements for the musical, also called Jagged Little Pill,” writes Rolling Stone, “and Broadway veteran Vivek J. Tiwary will produce the musical with Arvind Ethan DavidJagged Little Pill is expected to debut as a workshop production next year.”

They say the musical will not only utilize all the songs on Jagged Little Pill but also others from her catalog as well as new original pieces. “I look forward to taking the heart of Jagged Little Pill and expanding its story, fleshing it out into ever deeper layers of emotionality, specificity, humanity, power, physicality, spirit and fabulism,” said Morissette.

Rolling Stone says, “Jagged Little Pill, which remains the best-selling debut by a female artist in the U.S.”
