Jersey Shores’ The Situation To Make Superhero Comics About Himself For Wizard World

Just What You've Always Wanted

So, this is happening. Wizard World Inc. has joined with Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino of MTV’s The Jersey Shore fame to create a series of superhero comics with his family. The superhero in question will be based on the Situation. You don’t want to read on, but you’re compelled to, even if it’s only to see how far into the story I get before I have a complete meltdown.

The Beat has the, somewhat surprising story. They posted a press release about the news which says the Situation “signed a publishing, development, and appearance deal with Wizard World to create and publish a comic book hero based on” himself and his family. The stories will include his brothers Marc and Frank, sister Melissa, and mother Linda. Whether they will all be one big super team, we do not know.

We also don’t know who will be writing or drawing the comics but Wizard assures us it won’t be the Situation himself. They write, “The series of comic books based upon stories by Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and his family will be written and drawn by some of the comic book industry’s leading artists and writers. In addition, the Sorrentino family members will be making appearances at several Wizard World conventions to promote their characters and greet the fans in attendance.”

Here’s what the Situation himself had to say, “MPS Entertainment and I are thrilled and excited about our new business relationship with Wizard World. I grew up reading comic books and now I get a chance to star in my own. I can’t wait for everyone to see what we are working on.”

This isn’t the first time the Situation will be depicted as a comic character however. Archie & Friends did a Jersey Shore parody comic back in 2010 that featured the pop-culture star on their cover. You may also recall the story we brought you back in January of another Jersey Shore castmember and her connection to superheroes. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi got into a serious discussion with her fiance about who would win in a fight: Wolverine or Jean Grey? For the record, Snooki thought Jean would kick his ass.

Now, as to the current, ahem, situation. A Situation comic starring the Situation is…not something I would read. That being said, I’m all about bringing new readers into the fold (that’s what the industry needs after all), and if a comic about the Situation gets someone to pick up something else in the store, then I say it’s a good thing (What? Were you expecting me to Hulk-out?). What do you think?

If it really bothers you, just go look at some Avengers Dinosaurs instead.
