‘Jujutsu Kaisen 0’s’ Allegra Clark, Xander Mobus, and Matthew David Rudd Discuss Being Able to Tell Their Parents That They’re in a Movie!

Maki Zen'in, Panda, and Inumaki in Jujutsu Kaisen 0

One of the most fun things about Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is seeing characters we already know and love prior to meeting them in the anime series. Such is the case for the second years of Jujutsu High, Maki Zenin, Toge Inumaki, and, of course, Panda.

When we first meet them in the series, it feels like they have everything figured out compared to, say, series protagonist Yuji Itadori. Let’s be honest, these kids might have things handled better than the school’s resident trolly sensei, Satoru Gojo. The movie, however, is a chance to see the second years at the beginning stages of their training, which means there’s an extra layer of frustration when Gojo drops the EXTREMELY CURSED Yuta Okkatsu in their laps.

I got the chance to talk with the second years, now first years in the film, about what it was like to go backward in the story. Allegra Clark (Maki), Xander Mobus (Toge), and Matthew David Rudd (Panda) have already become fast favorites in the series, but the film is a chance to see them in a new way. Some of them feel very similar to how they act in the series, but others have clearly changed after the events of the movie.

That being said, the biggest thing the trio gained by working on the film compared to their time on the anime series is… telling their parents they’re doing a press junket for an, ahem, theatrical release. Since this is something premiering in theaters across the country, the three have been enjoying being able to point at an AMC and go, “Look, ma, I’m in a movie!”

Real talk, I would also be sending my mom pictures of the movie poster hanging up in theaters if I were in it. These three definitely have the right idea.
