John Boyega Looks Ready for Apocalyptic Action In These Pacific Rim 2 Set Pics

An apocalypse necessitates a functional but fashionable wardrobe, and John Boyega’s layered look in Pacific Rim 2 certainly fits the bill. On the list of what’s required in the event of an emergency: fingerless gloves, a warm jacket, and an unstoppable haircut. Check, check, and check!
I assume John Boyega’s character, the son of Idris Elba’s Pacific Rim character Stacker Pentecost, keeps an electric trimmer handy so that he can touch up the perfect fade and the design detailing on his hair. Like, yes, monsters are attacking the planet, but it’s the little things that keep us grounded—and those little things include touching up an incredibly great haircut.

In the second round of photos, it’s a little easier to see the object that Boyega’s character is holding in his hand, which appears to be a remote or detonator of some kind. We also get a better look as his black boots, which look both incredibly comfortable and lived-in, while also being bad-ass as heck. Gotta love some boots with belts on ’em!
As for why he’s holding a detonator, running around, and nursing a scratch on his face? We’ll just have to wait and see. Sadly, we have to wait allllll the way until February 23, 2018 for Pacific Rim 2.
