Colin Trevorrow Won’t Be Directing Jurassic World 2; Time for Woman to Inherit the Franchise

Jurassic World has yet to be fully unleashed, but director Colin Trevorrow is already fielding questions about his future with the franchise.

At the recent world premiere in Paris, Trevorrow told BadTaste. It that he wouldn’t be returning to the Park again, at least in a directorial capacity:

Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie. I would be involved in some way, but not as director.

/Film writes that if Trevorrow did work on Jurassic World 2, it would likely be as a producer or executive producer, much like Spielberg did on Jurassic World.

What do you think, friends? Obviously we can’t speak to Jurassic World yet, but do you think you’d be hype for the Jurassic Park universe to expand in the same way as Star Wars? And who would you like to see taking the JW2 helm?

Personally, I’d love to see Lexi Alexander, Michelle MacLaren, or A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night‘s Ana Lily Amirpour as director. Amirpour might not have experience with bigger-budget productions yet, but neither did Trevorrow prior to Jurassic World, and it would be fascinating to see the opportunities that could open up for a female director after working on such an established franchise.

Thoughts, gang? What clever girls would you like to see taking over the Park?
