Fifth Underworld Movie Getting Kate Beckinsale and the Franchise’s First Female Director

Spoopy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kate Beckinsale is returning to the Underworld franchise for its newest installment. Guess that Avengers genderswap post wasn’t enough to convince her that she should be Iron Man instead. Alas.

One of the most interesting tidbits to come out of this news is that the movie is being directed by Anna Foerster, the first female director in the history of the franchise. Most of her directorial experience is based in television shows (OutlanderCriminal Minds), but she has served as director of photography on ID4 and White House Down.

There are no confirmed details about the plot or anything yet, but apparently the movie is going to focus on that age old rivalry between vampires and werewolves.

Those jerks.

How are you feeling about this? Are you excited for the fifth Underworld movie?
