Kendrick Lamar Drops “All the Stars” From the Upcoming Black Panther Soundtrack

Recommended Videos

Hearing Kendrick Lamar on anything these days is a sign to me that it’s gonna be awesome. He’s one of those people whose participation is just a sign of quality. So hearing this first track from the upcoming soundtrack for Marvel’s Black Panther just gives me even more confidence that this movie is gonna be awesome.

It’s called “All the Stars,” and it’s an R&B-infused collab with SZA, a woman who’s changing the R&B game in her own right, that’s already setting itself up to be one of my Confidence Anthems of 2018. Check out some of these lyrics:

Tell me what you gonna do to me
Confrontation ain’t nothin’ new to me
You can bring a bullet, bring a sword
Bring morgue, but you can never bring the truth to me
Fuck you and all of your expectations
I don’t even want your congratulations

I recognize you for your confidence and calculated promises
All in your conversation
I hate people that feel entitled,
lookin’ at me crazy ’cause I ain’t invite you
Oh, you important? you’re the moral to the story,
you endorsing, motherfucker I don’t even like you

Just the idea of Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa nodding his head to this track in the throne room makes me so happy.

I can’t wait for Black Panther, and I can’t wait to hear the rest of this soundtrack! You can pre-order Black Panther: The Album on Google Play or iTunes, but there are no clues yet as to which other artists are featured. Still, like I said, Kendrick Lamar is generally an indicator of quality. So you could probably just go ahead and snag the album and be very happy indeed.

Black Panther comes out next month! Are you excited yet?
