Child Painting Prodigy Makes Over $236,000 From 33 Paintings
When I was a kid but lemons were scarce, I would sit in front of my house selling drawings and greeting cards I’d created for, if memory serves, a quarter each. A dollar, tops. Kieron Williamson is seven years old, and he just made $236,850 for his artwork. I guess that’s what separates the impressionist painter prodigy from literally everyone else.
When Kieron was slated to have a gallery showing and sale at Picturecraft Art Gallery in his hometown of Norfolk, UK, visitors camped out for upwards of two days and come from as far as South Africa to see the young artist’s work and get a chance to purchase it. And just 27 minutes after his paintings went on sale, all 33 were sold for a total of over 200 grand.
But it’s refreshing to see that Kieron is, in some ways, just your average youngster:
Although focused on his work, Kieron is still a typical kid. While others set up for the exhibition, he was chasing bubbles in the parking lot, Hill said.
More of his work can be viewed on his website.
