Kingdom Hearts III Gets a New Trailer and a New Utada Hikaru Theme Song
The latest trailer for Kingdom Hearts III recently aired at Disney’s D23 Expo Japan 2018 in Tokyo. The dialogue is therefore in Japanese, though the trailer notes that the final game will be in English. In the shared footage, we see that this game will include a Monsters, Inc. world where Sora, Goofy, and Donald get monster’d up. We also see the characters in the worlds of Toy Story and Tangled.
Previously, producer Shinji Hashimoto said that Kingdom Hearts III will also include a level inspired by Big Hero 6‘s San Fransokyo. And if the concept art holds true, this level could involve Sora riding an armored Baymax into battle.
As part of that same D23 Expo Japan 2018, we also got our first listen for a new game theme song from Utada Hikaru, who has previously provided the themes for both Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. This new song is titled “Don’t Think Twice” in English, and “Chikai” (meaning “oath” or “vow”) in Japanese. I’ve embedded the videos for both below. Neither video contains the the full-length version, but you’ll definitely be able to get a sense of the song.
Kingdom Hearts III will be available for Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PlayStation® 4 at some point in 2018.
