Po Takes On Bunnies in a Super Bowl Spot for ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’
Good things come in threes, but sometimes, better things come back for a fourth. Kung Fu Panda 4 is officially on the way—and DreamWorks has released the first trailer for the sequel.
The Kung Fu Panda franchise follows Po (Jack Black), a panda who eventually becomes the Dragon Warrior, a.k.a. the greatest warrior in the Valley of Peace. Over the course of three films, Po and his warrior friends have battled numerous villains and taught Po’s people how to defend themselves.
In a new Super Bowl spot for the movie, we get to see Po fighting back against … very sweet bunnies?
So what does Kung Fu Panda 4 have in store for Po?
Where are we going for the fourth installment?
Set to premiere on March 8, 2024, Kung Fu Panda 4 is described as follows: “After three death-defying adventures defeating world-class villains with his unmatched courage and mad martial arts skills, Po, the Dragon Warrior (Golden Globe nominee Jack Black), is called upon by destiny to … give it a rest already. More specifically, he’s tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace.”
The description goes on to give us a little more insight about where this leaves Po. “That poses a couple of obvious problems. First, Po knows as much about spiritual leadership as he does about the paleo diet, and second, he needs to quickly find and train a new Dragon Warrior before he can assume his new lofty position.”
More than that, there is a new villain on the rise! “Even worse, there’s been a recent sighting of a wicked, powerful sorceress, Chameleon (Oscar winner Viola Davis), a tiny lizard who can shapeshift into any creature, large or small. And Chameleon has her greedy, beady little eyes on Po’s Staff of Wisdom, which would give her the power to re-summon all the master villains whom Po has vanquished to the spirit realm. So, Po’s going to need some help. He finds it (kinda?) in the form of crafty, quick-witted thief Zhen (Golden Globe winner Awkwafina), a corsac fox who really gets under Po’s fur but whose skills will prove invaluable. In their quest to protect the Valley of Peace from Chameleon’s reptilian claws, this comedic odd-couple duo will have to work together. In the process, Po will discover that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places. “
The cast for the film includes Jack Black, Awkwafina, Viola Davis, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, Ian McShane, and Ke Huy Quan! Directed by Mike Mitchell, it is exciting to be back in the world of Po in the next installment of the Kung Fu Panda franchise and we can’t wait to see how Po is going to face off against the Chameleon in Kung Fu Panda 4!
