Swoon Over Ryan Gosling’s Singing Voice in First La La Land Trailer

Recommended Videos

Entertainment Weekly shared the very first trailer for La La Land, a full fledged musical starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. I say full fledged because this isn’t just a romantic comedy that has the occasional song like Begin Again or something (which was great, but I digress). La La Land is apparently a musical in every sense of the word–full musical numbers, an all-singing, all-dancing cast, everything. If that doesn’t sound fun to you, well then we can’t be friends. (I’m just kidding, we can still be friends. Though you can’t come to my musical birthday party. Sorry. You wouldn’t like it anyway.)

The song in the trailer, “City of Stars,” is sung by Gosling himself and has that real dreamy crooner edge to it, doesn’t it? Despite the film’s interesting kitschy aesthetic, it’s set in modern day Los Angeles. Maybe it’s the San Franciscan in me speaking, but I don’t see how that wardrobe’s too out of place or anything. Maybe I’m just terribly out of style.

Anyway. I’m a sucker for musicals, so you know I’m going to be keeping a close eye on this one. You can sing and dance to La La Land yourself when it hits theaters December 2nd.
