Huge, Record-Breaking Dota 2 Tournament Set for Madison Square Garden During NY Comic Con
"The geek shall inherit the Earth." -The Bible, I think.
Continuing the unstoppable conquest of eSports, Valve’s Dota 2 will be played in the largest in-person eSports event ever held on the East coast during the New York Super Week of New York Comic Con in October. The Finals of the ESL One global Dota 2 tournament will be played out live in front of thousands of spectators at The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
ESL, in its partnership with ReedPOP and Twitch, will run the tournament on Thursday, October 9 and Friday, October 10. If you can’t make it to Madison Square Garden to watch the players vie for the $100,000 prize in person, they’ll also be streaming the tournament on the ESL Twitch Channel, of course.
Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but the ESL site says there should be more details on that front soon, so keep checking back if you plan on attending, because it’s likely to sell out. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy this magical time when video game competitions sell out massive venues and are drawing ever closer to supplanting boring old “real” sports.
