The Last Trailer for The Defenders Is Here and Sigourney Weaver Is Absolutely Terrifying

I just got chills watching this.
We’re only a day away from the superheroic team-up of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Iron Fist. Defenders has been a long time in the making, and it’s hard to believe it’s almost here.
The spotlight in this action-packed trailer is on the glorious Sigourney Weaver, who plays the villainous Alexandra Reid. The jury’s still out as to who Alexandra Reid might “really” be in terms of comicsverse—back in January, Den of Geek speculated that perhaps she could be Mephisto or The Beast of the Hand—and of course, it’s possible that she could be a brand-new character who just scared the hell out of me.
Weaver is the embodiment of refined elegance here, but she also projects an air of menace so thick it’s not hard to see why Den of Geek guessed that she might be playing one of Marvel’s versions of the Devil. As her voiceover threatens both New York City and everyone that our heroes personally love, I legit shivered. Honestly, I haven’t been sure how to feel about The Defenders, but I’m going to go on the record here and say that even if somehow the show isn’t great, it will be worth it just to watch Sigourney Weaver burn everything down.
Despite all the dark plots and danger we see in the trailer, there’s also hints of the humor that can grace each of the Defenders’ stand-alone shows. And really, I could watch Jessica Jones smirk and call Danny Rand “Ironclad” on repeat for a while. I think I’m gonna.
What did you think about the trailer? What’s up with Sigourney Weaver’s character? And most importantly, will you be watching Defenders on August 18th? (It looks like it’s out the 18th at 3am, so if you’re planning to stay up all night and binge-watch it, we’ll have coffee waiting for you in the morning.)
