A Female-Centric League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Reboot Is on the Way
Back in May, there were rumblings of a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen reboot. Well, consider them confirmed, because it’s on its way, and–hey, wouldn’t you know it–we called it on this one; it’s totally going to be gender-swapped.
The producer on the project, John Davis, whose previous works include Chronicle and I, Robot, stated that it’s going to be a “female-centric” version. They’re probably borrowing a page out of Ghostbusters‘ playbook. The difference is that Ghostbusters didn’t make Sean Connery quit acting (yeah that surprised me, too).
Davis cites Mad Max: Fury Road as a bit of inspiration, saying, “I love female characters, point-of-view characters in action movies. I thought Mad Max [Fury Road] was great. I think you can always find a fresh way of doing something and going back to the basics. What is that people love? What is it that made them love the property in the first place?” If they’re starting all over, then they’ve got their work cut out for them; the last League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was pretty heavily panned upon its release.
What do you think? Are you excited about this? Intrigued?
