Whether it’s Infinity War or the Olympics, my heart always leaps when Leslie Jones decides to live-tweet something. Over the weekend, the Saturday Night Live star decided to live-tweet her first viewing of the Oscar-winning film The Shape of Water. The Cold War fairytale from Guillermo del Toro was praised as a beautiful love story between a Sally Hawkins’s Elisa and Doug Jones’s “Amphibian Man.” It is known fondly around the world as “that movie where the girl has sex with a fish.”

The great part about Jones’s live-tweet is that she somehow managed to go in without knowing that Elisa and the fishman consummate their love (which, even if you know it’s happening, is still wild). This movie is rich, lovely, and saturated with lush colors, but also, the other day, someone reminded me that “I still got my thumb, my trigger, and pussy finger” is a real line of dialogue spoken by Michael Shannon in the Oscar-winning film The Shape of Water. There is so much ridiculous stuff happening, and I could not stop laughing when I got to Leslie Jones watching the sing/dance sequence and going, “So the fish is Fred Astaire now?!”

Let’s just open up with what we’re all probably thinking: How did Jones react to people thinking the fishman was hot (which, I mean, we saw the work that went into sculpting his butt)? Well, no.

“You know what really troubles me,” she says, “is that I’ve been getting a lot of comments saying the fishman is hot. Really bitch? What the fuck? Is it that hard out there? That we gotta start fucking fishman? I mean, I know it’s hard. I’ve even seen a couple fishmen on Tinder. But check this out ladies: it’s not that fucking hard out there, ok? I mean, you can find a dude without dating the creature from the sea.”

(Maybe when real life men stop disappointing us, Leslie!)

Here’s Jones wondering if there’s going to be sex scene with the fishman. (“I’m not….um…uh….this is just too…..uh….did y’all ever see Humanoids from the Deep? You ever see that movie?).

Also, some stuff about the stinky smells that are definitely drifting through the labs and rooms. It’s a lot less romantic when you start thinking about that, isn’t it?

And of course, the most unrealistic thing of all:

You can head over to Jones’s Twitter to also check out her responses to the fishman eating the cat, Michael Shannon, and the apartment flooding.
