Lupita Nyong’o Compares the Tethered to Game of Thrones White Walkers and Honestly She’s Spot On

Lupita Nyong’o is many things: an Academy Award winning actress, an author, and as it turns out, a huge fan of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Nyong’o has previously tweeted about her love of the show, but today she took things to a whole other level by comparing the White Walkers to the Tethered from Us.

And if anyone is an expert on the subject of the Tethered, it’s Lupita Nyong’o. The actress starred in dual roles in Jordan Peele’s Us, playing both worried mom Adelaide and her creepy doppelganger Red. Nyong’o’s performance was one of the highlights of the wildly original film, and there is already awards season gossip about her earning a nomination.

Nyong’o compared and contrasts the two villainous factions, and she came up with some solid parallels. Both groups are silent (mostly), indefatigable killing machines with a penchant for colorful uniforms. Both have signature weapons and serious death stares. And one favors fire while the other ice. I mean, the evidence speaks for itself:

I do disagree with the PETA of it all, because aren’t the Tethered just eating those rabbits raw? Also, who supplies the rabbits? Where do they come from? I better stop digging before this turns into 73 questions about Us (although I have so many questions).

Nyong’o’s deep dive is as delightful as it is nerdy. I would 100 percent be down with Game of Thrones ending with all the White Walkers holding hands across Westeros. After all, both groups are metaphors for the forgotten and fallen in their respective universes. And both portray a certain sense of long overdue justice against the people at the top.

As for who she’s rooting for in GOT, Nyong’o, like us, forever stans Lyanna Mormont.

And we stan a nerd queen.
