Lynda Carter Might Be In The Wonder Woman Show
Great Hera!
For many people Lynda Carter is the definitive Wonder Woman, for her starring role in the 1975-79 television series. And though she hasn’t had many other screen credits, she’s still a lady with great class, and has never forgotten that Wonder Woman put her on the map.
Fans of Carter should be excited to know that she’s been talking to David E. Kelly, writer and director behind the new Wonder Woman show as well. From Monsters and Critics:
The 59-year-old actress revealed she had been in talks with writer David E. Kelley but refused to confirm whether she would have a role.
‘I’ve talked to David E. Kelley, who’s a brilliant writer, a number of times and we’re hoping to plan something,’ she said. ‘But I cannot reveal.’
It’s worth pointing out that if there’s something to be secretive about… then there’s something. Then again, even if both of the creatives are up for it, there are other studio concerns like pay and other logistics that can still get in the way.
Blastr suggests that if Carter were to play a character from the comics, perhaps the most appropriate role would be that of Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons and Wonder Woman’s mother. Whether or not Wonder Woman’s Amazonian origins are being preserved in David E. Kelley’s reboot is unclear, so we’ll have to wait and see. Honestly, Lynda Carter would make just as fine a Hippolyta as our other choice.
