Monday Cute: We Weren’t Ready for Mark Hamill’s Tweet About Carrie Fisher in Star Wars Episode IX
With the announcement of Carrie Fisher returning with footage from The Force Awakens and other footage in order to give Leia and Carrie their final cinematic send-off in Episode IX, it’s something we are all trying to process, but knowing the production has the blessing of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, at least gives me hope that it will be done gracefully.
However, what got my heart really twisted up with emotion was seeing this perfect tweet from Mark Hamill, about his space sister, on Twitter last night.
It’s bittersweet facing my final chapter without her-She is simply irreplaceable. I’m finding solace in the fact that she won’t BE replaced & would love the worldwide outpouring of affection from those who loved her when they heard the news.#CarrieOnForever pic.twitter.com/7ueMqBxQwa

The response to it from John Boyega, space son, and others was a beautiful moment of solidarity in a fandom that has been going through a spiral for a bit.
We will get through it dad 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 #CarrieOnForever https://t.co/KzN1cAjKNY

I got teary-eyed just reading this. Not only because of the heartfelt sentiment expressed, but also the stark inevitability in “my final chapter.” Whatever form #StarWars takes next, our journey with Luke Skywalker will soon be coming to a close. What a ride it’s been. https://t.co/ZN6rnvj85A

And today I am crying joyful, heartbroken, nerdy tears. It’s the right move not to replace her simply because it’s impossible. #CarrieOnForever #RebelScum https://t.co/XyqGIi6fil

Am I crying? Yes, okay, whatever.
Despite all the divisions in this fandom, there is one thing we can all agree on: We will always miss our Princess, our general, our Carrie.
