Martin Freeman’s Captain America: Civil War Character Confirmed & New Pics

In a new issue of Empire magazine, they’re going all out on Civil War, and along with some snazzy-looking covers, that means we’ve also got new info—so far, who Martin Freeman (The Office, The Hobbit) is actually playing.

Rumors have been flying about what Freeman’s role would be for a while, and it is now officially confirmed that the actor will play Everett Ross, as was pretty much expected:

In the comics, Ross has ties to Black Panther and is an expert on that character’s nation of Wakanda. Freeman previously described the role:

He works for the American government. He works in conjunction with the superheroes, and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes’ power, I suppose. So you’re not quite sure which side he’s on. It looks a little bit like he’s playing one game when actually he’s playing another. It’s the kind of character I like because it’s ambiguous and because you don’t know whether he’s good or bad.
