This Is What Doctor Who’s Matt Smith Looked Like Carrying The Olympic Torch
The World Doesn't End Because the Doctor Dances
We all know how much the Doctor likes to run. Well today, Doctor Who actor Matt Smith got to experience one of the most famous runs in the world – The Olympic Torch Relay. Not only that, he had the extra special honor of being the very first to carry the famous flame for its first full day in Wales to commemorate the London Olympics. Hit the jump for some great pictures from Smith’s run!
Oh wait, wrong Doctor.
The following images are via the BBC unless otherwise noted.
Here’s Smith in Cardiff getting into position for the relay. He arrived at the Norwegian Church Arts Centre and spoke to press and fans before he began. “I would do it in my underpants. It’s the Olympic torch. I would probably get a bigger crowd for that,” he said.
“I’m very excited about the run.” he continued. “It’s a huge privilege. A once in a lifetime thing. Let’s hope I don’t trip over!”

And he’s off!!
After a brief run, Smith handed the torch off to 14-year-old swimmer Llio Roberts.

I’ve been hearing online that Smith was unfortunately cut-off from the live stream of the event early this morning but there are a bunch of fan videos already popping up on YouTube.
