Mayfair Games Is Kickstarting Cones of Dunshire From Parks and Rec, But Only Eagletonians Can Afford It
Are the cones a metaphor? Well, yes and no.

Tabletop strategy enthusiasts out there probably already know Mayfair Games as the company behind Settlers of Catan, which is the basis for the largely nonsensical Parks and Rec parody game Cones of Dunshire. If someone told you that same company was planning to make a real, playable version of Cones of Dunshire, you’d probably say, “Sure. And I’m an alchemist of the hinterlands.”
But then I’d say that you can’t be an alchemist of the hinterlands, because—oh, nevermind. Cones of Dunshire is happening on Kickstarter! It’s all about the cones!
But that’s where we come in, Internet. Our ability to one day play this marvel of tabletop gaming is entirely in our own hands. Unfortunately, the price tag is incredibly high, because Mayfair’s goal is to ultimately to make a playable collector’s item for hardcore fans of the show with all the quality craftsmanship they could hope for.
The whole campaign is for $300,000, and individual backers have to hit at least the $500 mark to get an actual game. As the campaign’s first update says,
Is the whole thing a joke? Yes and no, but mostly no. All along, this game has represented the ridiculousness of Ben Wyatt’s vision of a game. This Deluxe version of the game is as close to the on-screen version of the game that you see in season six of Parks and Recreation as we can manage (and for us to be comfortable about the playability of it).
Other, lower-priced rewards include script replicas from the show, Cones of Dunshire clothing, and your own actual Cones of Dunshire game… box. Better start saving up your resource gems.
