Megalyn Echikunwoke to Play Live-Action Vixen as Guest Star on Arrow

Recommended Videos

We were already excited about the character of Mari McCabe, aka Vixen, joining the DCTV universe as part of an animated mini-series on CW Seed. When I interviewed the actress who voices Vixen, the awesome Megalyn Echikunwoke, she talked about the fact that she’d love to play a live-action version of the character if the opportunity ever arose. Well, get ready! Because Echikunwoke will be doing just that on The CW’s Arrow!

According to TV Insider, Marc Guggenheim (who is an executive producer on both Arrow and Vixen) said:

We’re not only thrilled to be further expanding our DC television universe by bringing in the live-action incarnation of the CW Seed hit, Vixen, we’re immensely excited that Megalyn will be revisiting her role as Mari McCabe.

The CW has been doing an awesome job of creating a really cohesive DC television universe (Someone figure out how to get Supergirl on The Flash!), and I’m thrilled to see that another female superhero of color will be joining the ranks. It can’t all be left to Hawkgirl, you know?

Vixen is set to appear in the 15th episode of the current season of Arrow, which is set to air February 24th once the show returns from hiatus. Meanwhile, if you want to catch up on Vixen’s animated adventures, you can check out the animated series HERE.

Are you excited to see Vixen join the Flarrowverse? Do you think we might see her incorporated into Legends of Tomorrow? How do you think the character could be best used and best served? Let’s chat in the comments below!
