Monday Cute: Cute Couple Engagement at the Zoo to Start the First Full Week of Pride Month
It’s like something straight out of a romantic comedy.
Becky McCabe and Jessa Gillaspie a same-sex couple from Tennessee went to the Memphis Zoo together, the location of their first date, with the same thing in mind.
They posed for a picture and McCabe then asked, “Can we get a candid one, like talking?” They break the pose, kiss and then McCabe gets down on one knee, take the ring box from behind her back and asks Gillaspie to marry her! Gillaspie is crying happily but doesn’t answer. Instead, she starts rummaging through her bag.
When asked what she is doing, Gillaspie pulls out a ring box of her own.
That’s right! We got us an old-fashioned accidental double engagement.
In the caption for the video, it reads: “I had no idea she planned to propose, and she had no idea I planned to propose to her! We were both so surprised!!!! We were surrounded by our friends and had the most amazing night. I am the luckiest girl in the world to be able to call her my fiancée.”
The video has been viewed over 2 million times since it was originally posted and I thought it was a fantastic share for the first official full week of pride.
CBS News writes that according to sources, the happy couple says they hope to get married next summer.
