Mystery Science Theater 3000 Has Been Renewed for Another Season on Netflix!
Keep circulating the tapes.
Yesterday marked yet another year of great holiday tradition. I’m talking, of course, about Mystery Science Theater 3000′s Turkey Day Marathon. Did you think I meant getting together with friends and loved ones to give thanks over a delicious meal? Yeah, on the couch, giving thanks for the comfort provided by a human and bot trio roasting several courses of delicious B movies. But that wasn’t the only MST3K goodness we got.
To cap off the Turkey Day Marathon, series creator Joel Hodgson, with new cast members Felicia Day and Jonah Ray, made the above breaking news announcement: Mystery Science Theater 3000 will return for a second season on Netflix (the series’ twelfth overall). Fans can now rest easy knowing that the show is safe for another season, after years of uncertainty and a long time off the air between the original run and the Netflix revival.
Yesterday’s marathon saw Hodgson, Day, and Ray discuss their experiences with the first Netflix season in between these six classic MST3K episodes: “The Day the Earth Froze,” “Night of the Blood Beast,” “Overdrawn at the Memory Bank,” “Warrior of the Lost World,” “The Girl in Lovers Lane,” and “Santa Claus”—in case you were too busy with the whole “togetherness” thing and would like to recreate the experience today. Or just check out the ShoutFactoryTV Twitch page, where they’re currently replaying the marathon.
