NASA Visualization Specialist Weighs in on Realism of the Planets in Star Wars & Other Sci-Fi

Star Wars and some of our other favorite sci-fi often take us to fantastic locations on other planets, but just how realistic are they? Here to weigh in is NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory visualization specialist Robert Hurt, who likes to make a hobby of hiding sci-fi references in NASA artwork.

According to Hurt, some of them are realistic enough to have some fascinating analogues within the real Universe, although we may not be able to make it past the first marker without a spacesuit on.
