Game of Thrones’ Natalie Dormer To Guest Star On Elementary
Today in Awesome
Even though I don’t watch CBS’s Elementary, I am very excited about this casting. Actress Natalie Dormer, who plays Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones, will have a guest-starring role on the Sherlock series as…
Irene Adler.
Deadline reports, “In a three-episode stint, building to Elementary‘s two-hour season finale, The Tudors alumna Dormer will play Sherlock Holmes’ former lover, Irene Adler, whose name has been frequently evoked on the show as a key to Holmes’ past.”
We were treated to the arrival of Irene Adler in BBC’s Sherlock last season and it seems it was only a matter of time before the character would make an Elementary appearance.
“We’re moving to the next chapter in our show – and in some ways, to a previous chapter in Holmes’ story,” creator/executive producer Rob Doherty told them. “Irene Adler is perhaps the most pivotal relationship in Sherlock’s life, and I can’t think of an actress better suited to the challenge than Natalie.”
Dormer, of course, has been keeping herself busy weaving herself into the political and social climate of King’s Landing this season on Game of Thrones as Margaery. Do you think she’ll make a good Irene?
