Rejoice and Be Merry, Friends, for National Doughnut Day is Upon Us!

Here at the Geekosystem offices, we live every single day as a celebration of the noble doughnut. This one even more than usual, though.

If you’re anything like us, each day feels like National Doughnut Day, because let’s face it — there’s no wrong time to eat a doughnut. Today, though, is actually National Doughnut Day, and we’re delighted to celebrate in the traditional manner — the consumption of gratuitous quantities of fried dough, preferably covered in frosting and sprinkles — even if having just one day a year to officially celebrate the finest of all of the junk foods does seem a touch…inadequate. Whatever, we’re not here to talk politics, we’re here to tell you where to eat free doughnuts today, so if that’s something that interests you, read on!

Since it is National Doughnut Day, doughnut retailers have decided that everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, should be able to have a delicious fried pastry today. Thus, Krispy Kreme is offering everyone who walks in their door a delicious doughnut of their choice, free of charge and no strings attached. Dunkin’ Donuts is also getting in on the act, though if you want a free donut from Fred The Baker, you’ll have to purchase a beverage. It’s not perfect, but then again, let’s not fool ourselves — it’s not like you were really going to eat a doughnut without a cup of coffee, were you? Like a savage? Of course you weren’t. You’re better than that.

Don’t let saving a couple of cents rule the way you celebrate this most sacred of occasions, though — your friendly neighborhood bakery or doughnut shop may have some deals going on to, and if not, hey, why not take a minute to support the little guy anyhow?

However you do it, have a doughnut and take a minute to enjoy it today. It’s been a long week, and you’ve earned a treat. This afternoon, it’s time to make eat the doughnuts.
