NBC Wants Sarah Michelle Gellar to Return for Cruel Intentions TV Show
Can you believe Cruel Intentions came out all the way back in 1999? Well, NBC wants to bring it back again for our enjoyment as a television series–and it’s being reported that one of the stars of the original film is being courted to return.
Sarah Michelle Gellar has been more active off-screen than on lately–her recent projects have been launching her own food start-up and lending her voice to animated characters like the Seventh Sister in Star Wars Rebels–but the role of Kathryn Merteuil in Cruel Intentions is one of her most well-known. And given that NBC now wants to reboot the plot of the film into the format of a television series, it would be a fun cameo if Gellar decides to make an appearance. (Rumor has it she’s reading the script now.)
It also looks like the team behind the Cruel Intentions show know how to handle the story–it includes Lindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross, who staged The Unauthorized Musical Parody Of Cruel Intentions (which Gellar attended with her Cruel Intentions co-stars Selma Blair and Reese Witherspoon). That being said: if Gellar is being approached, maybe that leaves room for one or two more cast members to appear again? I’d be down for it.
