Author Neil Gaiman wrote a short story for his Christmas card in 1989. Since then it’s become sort of a cult-classic story for, let’s say, the darker side of Christmas. Nicholas Was… is of course Gaiman’s usual fare and quite enjoyable for those with a black sense of humor. Vimeo user nomsa has set the tale to video using a very well put together pop-up book and some dramatic music. Nicholas Was… is now part of Gaiman’s Smoke and Mirrors collection but has been used by other creative people in the past too.
