Jessica Jones‘s Netflix Premiere and Defenders Details
Netflix has been talking up their near-future projects at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, and that means more details on when we’ll finally see Jessica Jones as the next chapter of Marvel’s small-screen universe!
While there’s still—painfully—no firm release date for Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Variety’s live reports from the event (via Comic Vine) at least confirmed that the show will debut before the end of this year. That’s welcome news as previous reports on the series’ release have been uncertain, but it’ll still likely be towards the end of the year.
There was also news of the eventual Defenders team-up crossover happening between the shows, as well as an updated release plan likely based on Daredevil‘s success:
Sarandos on Marvel’s #Netflix shows: Ideally “every six months, you’ll get a new season or series from #TheDefenders group” #TCA15

Once all four Marvel Netflix shows have been launched, they’ll cross over for Defenders, but “some will selectively have multiple seasons”

Of course, by “success,” I mean, “people certainly seemed to like it, and I know I did,” since Netflix doesn’t release viewer numbers. Still, when the original line was that the MCU TV shows (also including Luke Cage and Iron Fist) would be coming eight to fifteen months apart, and that schedule has now been tightened up to effectively two per year, it definitely sounds like Daredevil must have paid off.
