Children of the ’90s, rejoice! According to the New York Times (and my research), Netflix is bringing The Magic School Bus back for more perpetual field trips starting with 26 half-hour episodes slated to stream in 2016. So it’s not Star Trek, but it’s not too far off either, huh, nerds?

The new incarnation of Frizzle and co. will be renamed The Magic School Bus 360°, and will have modern updates to match its cool title. The show will be CGI animated and feature learning tools like robots and a “smart suit worn by the character Carlos that determines his body’s vital signs instantly.” Car-los!

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, explained to the Times why the streaming service chose to revamp the show, which originally aired from 1994-1997: “Magic School Bus, the old version, is remarkably popular on Netflix. […]It teaches science in a way that transcends generations. Parents trust it and kids love it.” Sarandos promises that the reboot will be “even more relevant and entertaining for today’s kids.”

To see the first concept art for what Frizzle 2.0 will look like, check out the Times’ coverage. It’s not how kids dressed at my old school, and I’m bummed that the students don’t appear to have reached their full Planeteer-potential, but Liz the Lizard is still there and that’s what really matters.
