New Black Panther Trailer Features New Footage, Hints at What Wakanda Is Hiding

Killmonger in Black Panther

Marvel is still riding high on the freshness of Thor: Ragnarok, and we may all be distracted by a certain other big name movie coming out this week, but let’s not forget that Black Panther is still on the way on February 16, and it still looks amazing. This new trailer, from Japan, follows the template of the last one but swaps in some impressive new footage. Take a look above.

That includes a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it look at Michael B. Jordan’s villainous Killmonger in his very own vibranium suit, complete with menacing gold details:

T’Challa’s got his own new outfit to show off, too, and a hint to drop about what Wakanda might be hiding, as he says, “If anyone found out what we truly are, what we possess …” Sure, he could just be talking about all the incredible Wakandan technology that makes Tony Stark’s lab look like a grade school science fair, but Marvel scholars already know he’s probably also referring to the “Soul Stone,” the last of the Infinity Stones that Thanos is about to come looking for in Avengers: Infinity War in may. We already saw what seemed to be a vast battle for Wakanda in the trailer for that movie, and this is probably the reason for it.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Black Panther is shaping up to be a lot of fun on its own and to bring something new and different to the Marvel universe—worth more than any Infinity Stone, in my book.
