A Bunch of New Justice League Clips Give the Team a Bit More Character
Justice League arrives in theaters just next week, and the final marketing push is in full swing. Over the weekend, a new batch of clips was released that showcases a little bit more personality for some members of the team.
Specifically, several of them put the Flash in the position of being a bit of comedic relief, as well as a less experienced hero with a more down-to-Earth perspective than that of his new friends. Then, there’s none other than Wonder Woman putting in a quick fight scene, as well as Aquaman stepping in to save the day in a battle with Steppenwolf, after we get a brief demo of some of Cyborg’s abilities.
In another clip, Bruce Wayne highlights the divide between the Flash’s perspective and the rest of the team even more, although he’s talking about Clark Kent’s humanity—perhaps a remnant from his pivotal realization of it in Batman v Superman, although it still seems like he’s talking as though he knew Clark better than he did. On the other hand, I’m more than happy to overlook that if it leads to more interesting characterization overall. I’ll take sad Batman over angry Batman any day.
Gal Gadot has already talked about how Wonder Woman’s story in Batman v Superman didn’t exactly match up with the Wonder Woman we got to know in her own film, and that movie was all the better for it. If Justice League is going to go in its own direction and do what it needs to do to make its characters interesting, I’m on board for sure.
